Take Me: The Real Devil Made Me Do It Murder Case Flip Wilson got big laughs on NBC with the line “the devil made me do it.” In early 1981, newspapers stuck that same line on a homicide case out of Brookfield, Connecticut. Arne Cheyenne Johnson was 19 and engaged to Debbie Glatzel, who groomed dogs at a kennel run by a man named Alan Bono. Debbie’s family believed her little brother David had a demon in him, and paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren agreed with them. During one of the family’s religious rites, Arne dared the thing to come into him. Months later, a long afternoon at a place called the Mug and Munch led back to that kennel, and a defense lawyer tried to bring the devil into a Connecticut courtroom.
