WRSP Radio presents the 51st episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb.
The Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates met this past week to play their record 2,500th game, and it didn't disappoint. Behind a comeback effort Tuesday, the Cubs took the series, but hardly anyone is talking about that. On Memorial Day, Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo pulled off a controversial slide into home plate that began a league-wide discussion. Was it dirty? Our hosts will share their differenting opinions.
Adding to the drama, Pirates pitcher Joe Musgrove slid hard into second base later in the series in an attempt to break up a double play. Was it any different than the Rizzo slide? We'll take a look.
In the second half of our show, we'll glance into the Stanley Cup Finals. Holcomb has an explanation as to why the Golden Knights are in the finals and will argue this series could bring something that hasn't happened in hockey since 1987.
It's all coming up on this edition of Weekend Sports Huddle.
