a. Explore the current measurements of those main flooding factors on the <a href="http://www.weather.gov/mbrfc/" target="_blank">Missouri Basin River Forecast Center site.</a> Based on that data, what do you predict flooding will be like this year? Why? What about in the next week?
2. Compare the maps of predicted precipitation and temperature change at seconds 0:09. Based on the maps, what kind of changes are expected to occur in the Missouri River Basin in the next 90 years? What impacts might these changes have on riverside communities and agriculture?
b. Explore the GlobalChange.gov <a href="http://nca2014.globalchange.gov/report/regions/great-plains" target="_blank">climate change in the Great Plains.</a> How might climate change impact your  area, its agriculture, and its natural resources, compared to other parts of the Great Plains? What variables could change these possible outcomes?
3. Explain why it&#8217;s possible for changes in climate to cause an increase in both total precipitation and droughts.

Kevin Low works as a hydrologist for the USGS, as part of the team who forecasts flood crests on the Missouri River. This talk goes out to all the river rats who spend days anxiously refreshing the <a href="http://www.weather.gov/mbrfc/">River Forecast Center</a> page to find out whether we&#8217;ll reach flood levels &#8212; and who are puzzled when the weather service fails to warn them.
Plus: Learn how to interpret more complex probability information given out by the service, and hear the latest research on climate change&#8217;s impact on the river.
