Notes: I found his poetry delivery style interesting. He melted each poem into his talk, and you didn’t quite know when the poem started. It became this holistic presentation of unconditional love, forgiveness, and forbearance. “Spitting Image - My Son” is a great poem about a father finding himself through loving his son.

Note: This poem is a fun one. During her set, which was full of serious subject matter, this one stood out to me because of the rhythm, tone, and images. I hope this brings a smile to your face, as it did for me when she delivered it. 

Bio from the flyer: Cynthia Linville's two books of collected poems, The Lost Thing and Out of Reach, are available from Cold River Press. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize as well as for a Best of the Net. A music aficionado with a theater background, Cynthia has received three mini-grants from Poets &amp; Writers to perform her work in collaboration with musicians. She has taught in the English Department at Sacramento State University since 2000, and she served as Managing Editor of Convergence: an online journal of poetry and art from 2008 to 2018.

<description>"Meschery was born as Tomislav Nikolayevich Meshcheryakov in Harbin, Manchukuo. His parents were Russian immigrants who fled from the October Revolution in 1917. The Meschery family was later relocated to a Japanese internment camp near Tokyo during World War II.

After the war, Meschery and his parents emigrated to the United States. It was also in this phase of his life where his father renamed the family "Meschery" due to the anti-Communist/anti-Soviet Red Scare under Joseph McCarthy, and Tomislav Nikolayevich was renamed Thomas Nicholas, which later was abbreviated to Tom. Living in San Francisco, California, Meschery attended Lowell High School.

After graduating in 1957, he went to Saint Mary's College of California in Moraga. Meschery helped Saint Mary's reach the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight in 1959.
