The U.S. Energy Information Administration said Wednesday that crude stockpiles rose by 9.5 million barrels in the week ended Friday, reaching 518 million barrels the highest level in data going back to 1982.

EIA reported a build of crude oil inventories of 9.5 million barrels (estimates were for a 3 million barrel build), but inventories once again drew at the Cushing delivery point.
