DEVOTED
Devoted to a Common Mission
3.2.25

Acts 2:42-47
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

We often want the benefits of Acts 2:47 without the sacrifice and commitment of Acts 2:42-46.

Unhealthy churches cater to consumer Christians.
Healthy churches commit to making disciples - no matter the cost.

God—the Trinity—is, by nature, a sending God:
The Father sent the Son into the world to bring salvation – redemption.
The Father and the Son sent the Holy Spirit to empower and guide the church.
The Spirit sends the church into the world to proclaim and embody the gospel.

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Luke 10:1-3
After this the Lord Jesus appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.

Your ability to live out God’s mission for your life is directly proportional to the depth of devoted, gospel-centered community you surround yourself with.

What does it look like for you to reject a culture of consumerism and individualism to walk in full discipleship to Jesus?

What does it look like for you to be actively engaged in an intentional discipling community on mission to reach the world?
