<p>After 100 days in Istanbul I finally made it home. My trip there would have been 18 days shorter but there were issues with my flight home due to the Covid-19 crisis. </p>
<p>In this podcast I share a few tales from the start of my time there, and play the first part of my chat with Benjy. </p>
<p>Benjy was the closet friend I made during my time there, with the most intriguing life of anyone I've ever met. I had to get it down on tape and share it with as many people that would listen. It was a perfect chance to start my podcast again.</p>
<p>The first part of his story includes:</p>
<p>* How he learned English and other languages.</p>
<p>* What life was like for him as a child and other Syrians under the rule of the dictator Bashar el Assad.</p>
<p>* The story of the punishment given to a group of children, which led to an uprising from the Syrian people and the formation of the Freedom Army.</p>
<p>I will be sharing more tales from my time in Istanbul and my chat with Benjy of the next 3 days. </p>
