We chat about the accolades we would give to the standouts of the season. Chelsea in 12th who would’ve thought? It’s a breakdown between the players that were the most valuable and the moments that became invaluable for us through the season. There’s a lot to look forward to already with Liverpool snapping up MacAllister for cheap and Kane seemingly staying out despite greener pastures elsewhere. We wrap it up with chatting on the incredible effect and waves made throughout the world of football in the US after Messi announces his imminent arrival to Inter Miami. Ticket prices skyrocket and the fans are running wild to catch a glimpse of the GOAT. Is this a good or bad thing for the sport in the States? We want to hear from you benchwarmers! Benchwarmers the end is near for the Premier League season. Marco, Jon, and Diego are together once more on zoom to bring you a recap of the weekends action along with a few weekday matches. Chelsea fall to two more defeats at the hands of City and United. Forest end the title aspirations officially for the Gunners. Brighton surprise with a win and a belter of a goal against the now Prem champions. In other areas of the table we chat about relegation dogfights and the challenges to stay alive in the Prem. We also review a bit the FA cup final between United and City, the nice touch of a gift handed to James Milner, and the opposite underbelly of football after Vinicius suffers more racial abuse after his match against Valencia. Benchwarmers we are together on Zoom for the penultimate game week of the season! Jon, Marco, and Diego break down the Prem action from the past weekend and dive into what happened in the Champions League semi second legs. It was a five-star display despite only scoring four as City were rampant over Madrid and the blue side of Milan took another win to advance to the Final. Several teams had shock results in the league with Brighton thumping Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates and Tottenham officially being out of the Champions League spots. We also gave some thought to what really was to blame when it came to Toney and the 8 month ban he received. There was also a shocking reveal for the new World Cup logo for 2026 being held across North America. If you can draw up something better let us know! Benchwarmers were back in the studio, it’s Diego and Nico and Jon and Marco back together. Erik finally gives us where his mind has been over the last few weeks with Arsenal fighting for their lives, fighting for glory. Nico also gives us what he feels is a fair season suddenly, looking good after six consecutive wins for the Reds under Klopp. Jon and Diego feel the pressure with the Top 4 race so tight and De Gea becoming the question of whether he has done his service to the club already. The Bench reviews two fantastic Champions League matches, previews a dramatic gameweek in the Prem, and get into whether they would give the hat trick penalty to Gundogan. We get into the fantasy tips for Double Gameweek 36. There’s discussion about the banter between current footballers and how that can spice up the league between players. We didn’t forget the fact that for the outcomes all around the table, Chelsea are literally the final boss for many teams. Erik feels like there’s a glimmer of hope despite fighting it the last few weeks… it ain’t over til it’s over...? What’s up Benchwarmers!! It’s a three piece for this episode Diego, Jon, and Marco get down to review the prime action over the weekend! City win over Leeds and Haaland can’t break the current Prem goal scoring record.. is this really the record holder? This is your God? At least that’s what Diego would say after having his heart broken. Arsenal take it to Newcastle and become only the second team after Liverpool to beat them at Saint James Park. It looked like either squad was going to waste and run the clock as much as they needed until it became a standstill. A team who’s not standing still however, is Liverpool who are slowly creeping back up the table after one nil win against Brentford. It looks like Klopp has his attacking men all in a row, except for one who never decided to show… Arthur Melo, leaving Liverpool after a disastrous loan spell that saw him accumulate the grand total of zero minutes for the Liverpool Reds. Elsewhere in the league at the bottom there was an all out brawl between the relegation candidates with score lines, such as 5–3 5–1 4–3 it was 21 goals in a single match day. Incredible stuff for teams like Everton and Nottingham Forest. While also speaking of brawls we talk about the mayhem that was River Plate versus Boca Juniors in the Argentine league. A very dubious penalty and red cards given out like candy. This was another Derby for the books. We did get into a preview quickly for the champions league matches this week. We also went over the low expectations for the local MLS team. That is the New York Red Bulls. Plus an interesting insight on the frequent occurring ACL injuries to the women footballers of today.
