Mary Jordan, a dedicated volunteer for 46 years, joined Haven of Rest after learning about the ministry through Reverend Curt Thomas and has since served in various capacities including board member, Women’s Auxiliary treasurer, and office volunteer. Throughout her long tenure, she has seen many changes in leadership and the expansion of the ministry, finding joy in building community with fellow Christians and witnessing the impact of charitable projects, such as funding initiatives and supplying deodorant to men in need. Mary continues to participate in ministry activities, including collecting coin donations and helping with administrative tasks, and she emphasizes that Haven of Rest offers a meaningful place of belonging and connection for volunteers.

Tim shares his testimony about his transformative journey at Haven of Rest, a Christ-centered recovery mission. Before arriving, Tim struggled with alcohol abuse throughout his life. After being referred by another full organization in Canton, he came to Haven of Rest's shelter, where a social worker later encouraged him to join the structured "Conquers" resident program. Now nearly six months into the program, Tim's daily routine involves waking up early, working therapy in the kitchen to serve others, and participating in intensive Bible study, discipleship, and computer classes. He highlights how re-centering his life around Christ has completely replaced his former anxiety and depression with a sense of safety, community brotherhood, and hope for the future. Additionally, Tim celebrates a major answered prayer: repairing a two-year estrangement with his mother, who strongly supports his placement in a faith-based program. Tim concludes the interview by asking listeners to pray for his continued focus and strength as he nears graduation.

Katrina Henry, who leads the "Every Child, Every Chance" program at the Haven of Rest, discussed the ministry's expansion into Akron Public Schools, where they now provide not only essential physical needs like shoes, clothing, and school supplies but also spiritual support through the Good News Club. Initially launched as a pilot program in the North cluster of schools to assist with Thanksgiving meals, the initiative has grown significantly to include the Eastside cluster and now offers after-school gospel teaching and seasonal outreach, such as providing Easter baskets to children. Driven by a desire to help students feel secure and supported, the program is sustained by volunteers and is currently raising funds through a $5,000 matching gift challenge for June to continue these vital services. Listeners are encouraged to partner with the ministry through financial support, volunteering, and praying for the safety and spiritual well-being of the children throughout the summer months.

Rachel, a recent hire in the clothing department at Haven of Rest Ministries, shares her journey of returning to Akron after graduating from college in Cincinnati and transitioning into her new role. Encouraged by her in-laws, who are long-time employees at the mission, Rachel now oversees the organization, sorting, and distribution of women’s and children’s apparel for their monthly client store. Working alongside staff and volunteers in a highly collaborative environment that prioritizes daily team devotionals and prayer, she highlights the direct evidence of God’s provision through timely donations like dresses and baby clothes. As the mission transitions into the warmer months, Rachel urges listeners to donate high-quality summer clothing, such as children's shorts and lightweight women's dresses, alongside universally needed basics like socks and underwear for all age groups.
