LSU Tigers running back John Emery Jr. announced Tuesday afternoon that he will enter the transfer portal after spending the last five seasons in Baton Rouge. The New Orleans area native was a five-star coming out of Destrehan High School and was one of the highest rated players in the state of Louisiana. Emery Jr. had a couple of solid seasons, but academic probation kept him off the field in 2021 and portions of the 2022 season. His best year in the purple and gold came in head coach Brian Kelly's first season, but an ACL tear sidelined him the next year and prevented his ability to string together back-to-back productive seasons. What are Emery's options coming off of an injury and what does that mean for the Tigers RB room and roster as a whole?
Plus, the LSU baseball team earned it's first conference series win this past weekend after taking two out of three on the road at Missouri. The college football transfer portal is open for another week and while LSU continues to look around the portal to add talent and depth at positions of need, players currently on the roster continue to enter the transfer portal as well. The grand total of players leaving Baton Rouge is up to six, including four young, defensive players. Is there a concern for defensive attrition, or is this actually what is best for the 2024 squad?
Plus, the LSU Gymnastics team won its first ever national championship in program history topping California, Utah, and Florida in the national championship in Fort Worth, Texas over the weekend. Led by veterans Haleigh Bryant and Aleah Finnegan, the Tigers notched a 198.225 overall score. It was Finnegan's heroics on beam to close out the competition that turned the Tigers championship dreams into a reality but the contributions across the entire roster that brought the team it's first ever title.

The spring transfer portal window opened on April 16th and now players across the country have until the end of the month to decide if they want to stay or leave from their current team before the 2024 season kicks off. As for LSU, head coach Brian Kelly said Saturday after the Tigers' spring game that they will focus on defensive tackles in the portal, a dire need after former LSU DTs Mekhi Wingo and Maason Smith declared for the NFL Draft.
