Today’s episode is in celebration of pride month, a month that was inspired by the Stonewall Riots, which was a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the gay community in response to a police raid in 1969 of a gay bars Which has since started the movement to fight for gays right and equality for the LGBTQ+ community in the United States.

Today’s guest a is a well distinguished African American lesbian and a successful businessowner, of course we are talking none other than DA (Donna) the Barber the owner of Whiskey Beard Barbershop. 

Donna walks as through the challenges of coming out as a lesbian to her peers and family. A movement more challenging for an African American than their white counterparts. In the United States, 44% of LGBT students persons of color have reported experiencing bullying based on their sexual orientation. Further, African Americans tend to disagree with LGBT civil liberties more than their white counterparts. 

Likewise, she talks about the challenges of starting a business mostly dominated by men. In the US only 16% of barbers are females. Donna goes on to tell us how she and her business survived the covid-19 epidemic.
