The Heart of Healing

Do you every feel like you're taking on way more than you should? I don't mean projects or tasks, I mean stress, guilt, blame, or shame for other people's problems or circumstances beyond your control. If you answered yes, you are not alone in this behavior. This week I talk about the ways our upbringing or past abuser/trauma can mold our core beliefs and lead us to feel as though we are responsible for others' feelings and problems above our own.

Everywhere we turn, we are told the key to success is consistency! Self-help books, speakers, coaches, bloggers, and while consistency can be a game changer for someone with an emotionally solid foundation, the expectation of consistency, while still living with trauma brain, can trigger anxiety and feelings of low self-efficacy. In this episode, I share the shift in perspective that has allowed me to experience real and sustainable change and healing.

Do you ever feel like anxiety, and living in survival mode is a regular part of existing post-trauma? Setting ourselves up for success is imperative to reducing triggers that throw us into chaotic existence and self-doubt. Renaming and reframing our perception of the physical sensations of stress and anxiety are techniques that can drastically reduce the collateral damage of living in survival mode, or dealing with chronic anxiety.
