Year of The Dragon - Sam Tweaks

We’re amped to get another guest mix from Sam Tweaks and we’re double amped that he’s also a guest at Brentford Soul Allstars!

Sam came to our attention a few years ago when he delivered one of the best debut guest mixes we’ve ever had (check our Mixcloud archive). Since then he’s become a superstar DJ on Twitch, regularly playing in raid trains with some of the best DJ’s in the world

His skills with 45s are truly next level and on this mix he’s selected his "best 45's of 2024 so far".

He’s called the mix “Year of the Dragon” in a nod to 24 but also because the mix is 76 mins long and he was born in 1976 also the Year of the Dragon!  We can’t wait to see him drop some of these 7”s at Brentford Soul Allstars!

25 Years of New Funk 45s – DJ Skeg

25 Years of New Funk 45s – DJ Skeg

To celebrate our 25th anniversary, Skeg put together this selection of the best new Funk 45s that came out over the last 25 years.

When we say new Funk we’re talking about Funk made since the late '90s by bands, producers and labels that were celebrating the Funk sound from the '70s but re-imagining it for the millennial generation. Vintage sounds played in a new way by artists who maybe only got to know about Funk from checking all the samples used by Hip-Hop artists.

Skeg has gone deep to dig out a selection of new Funk 45s that best represent the labels, artists and sounds that made the new Funk scene a great time in which to be a record collector!  FEEL THE NEW FUNK!
