In this episode of Can U Put Me On Guestlist?, I sit down with legendary DJ, producer and house music pioneer Roger Sanchez for a deep dive into more than three decades at the heart of electronic music. Roger takes us all the way back to his beginnings in New York City, from selling mixtapes on Broadway and throwing his own parties to discovering house music through iconic clubs including Paradise Garage and The Loft. He talks about the DJs and artists who shaped him, the importance of long DJ sets and learning how to truly read a dancefloor. We discuss his breakthrough on Strictly Rhythm, his first UK tour with Todd Terry, and why the UK became such an important part of his career. Roger also shares memories of working with and learning from some of the biggest names in house music, including Frankie Knuckles, Danny Tenaglia, David Morales and Louie Vega. The conversation then moves to Ibiza, where Roger reflects on his 30 years playing at Pacha, his legendary Release Yourself residency and how the island has changed throughout his career. Roger also opens up about his journey as a producer and remixer, including working on records for artists such as Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and No Doubt, spending years in the studio and eventually winning a Grammy Award for Remix of the Year for his remix of Hella Good.
