Description
The Villanova University football team is two wins away from a national championship. The 12-2 Wildcats have advanced to the national semifinals of the FCS playoffs, where they will host Illinois State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Villanova Stadium. The Wildcats have defeated Harvard (52-7), Lehigh (14-7), and Tarleton State (26-21) to this point, winning the last two games on the road. Villanova brings an 11-game overall winning streak and a 23-game home winning streak into Saturday night. Illinois State is 11-4, and the Redbirds have won all three of their playoff games on the road. The winner of this game will play the winner of Montana/Montana State for the national title on Jan. 5 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Matt Leon caught up with Villanova head coach Mark Ferrante to talk about his team's run. They look back at the win over Tarleton State, which saw the Wildcats rally from 14-0, and look ahead to what to expect against Illinois State.
