Mirna Valerio is an ultrarunner, an author and an inspiration. She’s also one of our Women of Adventure. Mirna may not be what you imagine when you think of an ultrarunner who climbs mountains, and that’s OK. She likes to surprise people. Moreover, she loves to inspire people. Throughout her athletic career, Mirna has spoken about what it’s like to be a larger woman running amidst stereotypical athletes.
Her relentless optimism and athletic feats have been featured in Women’s Running, WSJ. Magazine, Runner’s World, on the “NBC Nightly News,” CNN, The CW Network, “GMA,” “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and in the REI-produced short, “The Mirnavator.” She was also selected as a 2018 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year.
