The Rays get blown out by the Royals 12-5. It was a disaster right away for the Rays. Shane McClanahan gave up back to back homers in the 1st that made it 2-0. The Rays would get a run back in the bottom of the 1st on a Junior Caminero RBI single which made it 2-1. But the offense could not cash in on multiple RISP chances to keep the game close. The game remained until the 5th inning when the Royals put on another 4 runs helped by Rays mistakes defensively which made it 6-1. It would only get worse for the Rays in the 8th inning. The Royals would tack on another 5 runs to make it an embarrassing 11-1. Both teams added runs in the last inning but the game was decided well before then.
