The Djab Wurrung Heritage Protection Embassy have been protecting sacred land threatened by the Western Highway expansion project. The plans will duplicate the highway for a twelve kilometre stretch just before Ararat, Victoria. Traditional Owners and allies have been living across three embassies for over a year, blocking the development of the road. After months of protesting, applying for Heritage listing and appealing in court, the Embassy members are being threatened with eviction. Last month we spoke to Amanda, one of the key members of the Embassy.
