A woman came to me absolutely consumed by a fear she couldn't shake — a fear that something terrible was going to happen to her. Maybe a health issue. Maybe an illness. Maybe dying.
The fear followed her everywhere… and the feeling would not leave her. And she had no idea why.
When we uncovered what her subconscious mind had secretly linked together, everything finally clicked. And it was something she never would have guessed in a million years.
In today's episode, I'm sharing the surprising emotional miswiring that was driving her fear — and how things we don't think twice about, like emergency or crisis planning or even calling a past health issue a "gift," can accidentally program the mind in the wrong direction.
These innocent moments can create subconscious links that trigger fear, worry, stress, or even a silent expectation of the very thing you're trying to prevent.
And with the holidays coming up, this is actually a beautiful reminder: now is a really good time to think about only positive gifts — the ones that uplift you, expand your energy, and genuinely support the future you want to create.
This is more common than many people realize and shows up in a variety of different ways.
As another example, in recent podcast episodes, I've worked with people who feel guilt about moving forward, guilt about feeling happy, or even guilt about enjoying life when others can't. In these situations, the mind links negative emotions (like guilt) to positive experiences (such as happiness, success, healing, fun, or progress).
This too can be incredibly impactful — because when positive things are associated with guilt, the subconscious can begin linking happiness with illness, problems, hardship, stress, worry, or fear.
