It also won the California Book Award, the Northern California Book Award, the James Beard Award, and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Pollan is a professor of journalism at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and he's also a professor of practice of non-fiction at Harvard University.
