Ep 95 | It's Okay Not to Feel Okay
Hey friends! In this vulnerable, honest episode of She Finds Joy, I’m inviting you into a raw conversation that we don’t have nearly enough—about those days when things just aren’t okay. I showed up for this recording in my running clothes, with no makeup and messy hair, because it felt important that you see the real, unfiltered Kim Strobel. The truth is, behind the social media highlight reels and the smiles, every single one of us has times when life feels heavy, we feel stuck, and joy feels far away.   Key Topics Covered:   It’s Okay to Not Feel Okay:  Let’s break the silence around those moments when your outside life looks shiny, but inside, you’re struggling. I open up about my own experience—how I’ve been feeling off lately, no matter how hard I hustle or strive. And I promise you: it’s okay to have these feelings. You are not failing just because you’re in a tough season.   Seasonal Shifts and Emotional Realness:  I share why fall always feels hard for me, even though there’s so much to love about it. Is it the shift from the busy energy of summer into quieter days? Is it saying goodbye to the high of speaking on stages and trading it for more time alone in my office? Just know, it’s normal to feel a little lost or off-track when the seasons of life change.   Social Media vs. Real Life:  On my own Facebook page, I share both the highlights and the struggles. It’s easy to scroll and feel like everyone else has it all together, but I want you to remember—there’s so much more happening behind the scenes in everyone’s life than you see online.   Giving Yourself Permission to Pause:  Sometimes, after we’ve tried everything to push forward, the wisest thing we can do is pause. Allow yourself to sit in the discomfort. Resist the urge to “fix” everything right away. Maybe it’s a time of preparation, a space for something new to grow.   The Wisdom of My Grandmother:  My grandma—the happiest person I’ve known—would order dessert first and get her hair done to lift her mood. Maybe we need to take a cue from her and find the small, nurturing ways to care for ourselves while we wait for the light to return.   You Are Not Alone:  I name the hard realities I’m moving through right now, acknowledging it’s tough. Comparison creeps in, and it often feels like others are further ahead. But you are not broken, and you are not less than.   Action Steps:   Be gentle with yourself. Give yourself permission to feel the way you do right now. Share your feelings with someone you trust—even if you can’t fix them, you don’t have to carry them alone. Find one small way to care for yourself today—a walk, music, dessert first, or just pausing. Remind yourself: “I don’t have to have it all figured out yet.” Listen to the song “It’s Okay” by Nightbird—the message is powerful and healing.   Notable Quotes:   “You’re not failing, even though it feels like you’re behind everyone else.” “Maybe you don’t always have to be fixing your life—sometimes it’s okay to just be where you are.” “You are not alone in these feelings—so many of us feel the same way sometimes.” “If you need inspiration, remember Nightbird’s song: It’s Okay.”   Listener Challenge:   Take a moment and ask yourself: Where in your life do you feel ‘behind’ or ‘not enough’? What’s ONE small act of kindness you can offer yourself today?   Share your story! Ep 94 | Growth Mindset (Part 2) Rewriting the Beliefs That Hold You Back
Hey friends! In this heartfelt, game-changing episode of She Finds Joy. I’m pulling back the curtain on the beliefs that shape every single part of our lives. So many of us feel stuck—not because we aren’t capable, but because we’ve unconsciously adopted old stories about who we are and what we can achieve. Today, we’re diving into the science and soul of how you can start to rewrite those beliefs and reclaim your personal agency—and your joy!   Key Topics Covered:   The Power Beneath the Surface:  I break down how 95% of our decisions and behaviors stem from the subconscious beliefs we picked up as young as six years old. Think of your mind like an iceberg—your conscious thoughts are just the tip, while everything else runs below the waterline, quietly directing your life.   Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset:  Let’s talk about what happens when you believe your talents and intelligence are set in stone versus choosing the power of “yet.” I share real-life examples from education, the workplace, and my own life—because no one was born with a perfect mindset! Together, we explore how growth mindset people embrace challenges, persist through obstacles, and use feedback as fuel.   Beliefs Change Everything (Even Your Body!):  I reveal the surprising results of a study from Germany showing how powerful our beliefs are—men who believed they’d had knee surgery healed... even when some never actually received it! This is a jaw-dropping demonstration of how much our thoughts shape our reality.   How You Can Shift Your Beliefs:  Here’s the good news: you aren’t stuck with the stories you inherited! I talk about the importance of feeding your brain new, empowering information. Whether it’s books, podcasts, mentoring, or simply surrounding yourself with positive influences, change is possible when you act on fresh knowledge.   Bringing Growth Mindset to Your Workplace and Life:  If you’re seeing burnout or resistance in your team, school, or organization, you’re not alone. I explain why embracing challenge and feedback is essential—for both personal transformation and business success.   Action Steps:   Notice those old, limiting stories you tell yourself—and challenge them! Feed your mind new beliefs: read, listen, and seek out people who spark growth. Take one small action based on what you learn—don’t just think, do! Embrace challenges, and remind yourself: “I can’t do this... yet!” If your colleagues or team are stuck, share this episode and start a conversation about mindset.   Notable Quotes:   “Our mindset is only as strong as the beliefs that sit underneath it.”   “You have the ability to extract old belief systems and download new ones.”   “It’s not knowledge that is power—it’s acting on the knowledge that is power.”   “When we change our belief systems, we change our lives.”   Listener Challenge:   I want you to get really honest with yourself:   Where in your life are you showing up as that six-year-old version who believes ‘I’m not good enough’ or ‘This isn’t possible for me’?   What’s one belief you want to rewrite?  Share what you’re shifting on social media and tag @KimStrobelJoy—I’d love to celebrate your progress!   Connect & Share:   Screenshot the episode and share your favorite takeaway. Ep 93 | Growth Mindset (Part 1) From Fixed to Growth
NOV 4, 2025
Ep 93 | Growth Mindset (Part 1) From Fixed to Growth
In this empowering episode of "She Finds Joy," Kim dives deep into the transformative differences between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. Drawing from decades of brain research and her personal journey, Kim shares stories of triumph over self-doubt, resistance, and adversity, revealing how embracing growth allows us to unlock our fullest potential and invite more joy into our lives.   Key Topics Covered:   Understanding Fixed vs. Growth Mindset: Kim breaks down the characteristics of fixed and growth mindsets, using relatable examples from education, the workplace, and her own life. She explains how statements like “I’m just not good at this” keep us boxed in, while adopting the power of “yet” signals openness to learning and development.   The Science Behind Growth: Citing research by Dr. Carol Dweck and Sean Achor, Kim highlights how our brains are designed to adapt and grow, meaning most of us are only using a fraction of our true capacity. She dispels myths about talent and intelligence, encouraging listeners to challenge the belief that their skills are set in stone.   Personal Stories of Growth: From marathons to keynote speaking, Kim shares how she overcame initial failures and fear with perseverance and belief. Her story—from a trembling teenager in speech class to a confident speaker before thousands—embodies the growth mindset in action.   Overcoming Resistance in Organizations: Through workplace anecdotes, Kim discusses change management and the resistance to new challenges, demonstrating how shifting perspective can empower teams to embrace productive struggle and innovation.   Productive Struggle and Resilience: Using the metaphor of a butterfly fighting its way out of a cocoon, Kim illustrates the necessity of struggle for true growth. She champions embracing difficulties as opportunities to strengthen resilience and confidence.   Action Steps: Notice where a fixed mindset shows up in your language: swap “I can’t” for “I can’t yet.” Challenge yourself or your team to lean into challenges, reframing setbacks as opportunities for growth. Celebrate wins and progress, even when it feels uncomfortable or hard. Share the episode with someone who may be struggling to believe in their potential.   Notable Quotes: “Inside every adversity lies the seed of something greater.” “You're never stuck. It's your brain that tricks you into thinking you don't have this ability. But your brain and your body are built to grow.” “When we learn to prioritize our happiness and well-being, we elevate every single area of our lives.” “You have 90% potential left—you are deserving of joy and happiness.”   Listener Challenge: Kim invites you to reflect on your own mindset:  Where have you let a fixed mindset limit you?  What’s one area where you can begin saying “I don’t know this yet” and embrace the journey of learning?  Share your insights on social media and tag @KimStrobelJoy—she wants to hear your stories of growth! Ep 92 | The Ripple Effect: One Small Act of Kindness

Ep 92 | The Ripple Effect: One Small Act of Kindness
In this uplifting episode, Kim Strobel shares a moving real-life encounter that beautifully illustrates how a single act of kindness can ripple out and change lives—starting with a meaningful conversation in her own backyard. Through the story of Cameron, a hardworking young father and dedicated service provider, Kim reveals how taking a few moments to connect, acknowledge, and uplift someone can foster deep connection and spark a brighter outlook—for both giver and receiver.   What’s in this episode: The extraordinary impact of recognizing and uplifting the everyday people who cross our paths—for example, the service technician, cashier, or mail carrier Kim’s firsthand account of meeting Cameron, an inspiring young father, and how their honest exchange opened doors for empathy and encouragement The science behind our brain’s natural “negative bias” and how small acts of kindness can help retrain our minds for positivity and joy How sharing someone’s story (even on social media) can create a wave of encouragement—sometimes making someone’s whole week or year Simple, research-backed habits for cultivating daily happiness, drawn from Kim’s own teachings and latest book, “Teach Happy: Small Steps to Big Joy”   Kim challenges listeners to notice the “Camerons” in their lives—those whose stories often go unheard—and to take that extra moment to see, value, and encourage them. By sharing her experience and Cameron’s grateful response, Kim demonstrates that kindness is not only transformative for the receiver, but deeply rewarding for the giver.   Key Takeaways: Pausing to make someone feel seen, heard, and valued can lift both your spirits and theirs—sometimes in ways you never expect. Our brains may be wired for negativity, but cultivating daily acts of kindness can reprogram us for positivity and fulfillment. Sharing and celebrating the hard work and resilience of others (even through a simple Facebook post!) can multiply hope in unexpected ways. Practicing random acts of kindness is one of the top habits that improve overall happiness and well-being—for both giver and receiver.   “So please share this episode with a friend… and go out and practice your own random acts of kindness.” — Kim Strobel   Thank you for listening to She Finds Joy! Ep 91 | From Scarcity to Creativity: Ditching Perfectionism & Embracing Action
OCT 1, 2025
Ep 91 | From Scarcity to Creativity: Ditching Perfectionism & Embracing Action
In this raw and inspiring episode, Kim Strobel peels back the curtain on the persistent struggles with perfectionism and scarcity mindset that can hold us back from showing up as our fullest, most courageous selves. Through candid storytelling and relatable personal examples, Kim demonstrates how these limiting beliefs can creep into our lives—whether it’s launching a new podcast episode, stepping onto a stage for the first time, or simply navigating the unpredictable ebbs and flows of business.   What’s in this episode:   Kim’s honest confession about overthinking her podcast, the pressure to “do it perfectly,” and how letting go of the need for perfection unlocked her ability to act and serve The powerful reminder that “perfection is the lowest standard you can hold yourself to,” and why chasing it only serves to stall true progress and fulfillment Behind-the-scenes stories of facing fear: From her first-ever keynote for 900 people, to building and evolving her business through periods of uncertainty A look into the realities of slower seasons in business, and strategies Kim uses to shift from a scarcity mindset to creative, solution-focused action The ripple effect of tough decisions—like reducing her assistant’s hours—sparking growth, independence, and creative hustle both in her team and herself Practical encouragement to recognize when you’re stuck in perfectionism or fear, and how to take the next brave step—no makeup, no perfect plan, just real action   Kim urges listeners to embrace imperfection, acknowledge their fears, and push forward anyway—reminding us that abundance and growth are on the other side of discomfort.   Key Takeaways:   Perfectionism is a trap that paralyzes progress; action—however imperfect—is what builds momentum and opens doors. Periods of slow growth or uncertainty are normal; responding with creativity, outreach, and positive energy can reignite opportunity. Scarcity mindset is a sneaky saboteur—recognize it, feel your feelings, and then use that discomfort to fuel your next steps. Sometimes setbacks (like having to cut back team hours) can catalyze growth and innovation, benefitting everyone involved. When you feel stuck or inadequate, let yourself move through the doubt and take action anyway—the magic lies in the doing. “You don’t have to have everything perfect in order to take action. Perfection is the very thing that will get in your way, over and over again.”   Thank you for joining Kim in this moment of real talk and empowerment. If her reflections struck a chord with you, please share this episode with someone who could use a lift, tag Kim on Instagram with your biggest takeaway, subscribe for more encouragement and practical inspiration, and please leave a review here or at kimstrobel.com/review, to help others discover the show.   Remember: Don’t wait for perfection—move forward with courage, creativity, and trust in your ability to create abundance, one imperfect but brave step at a time.
