Miller was selected by ABC Television and Chevrolet as Most Valuable Player (MVP) in both the semi-final as well as the championship games.

Along with his football accomplishments came other life-changing EKU student experiences. Miller joined the ROTC program and also became a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity. When he received his degree in 1981, he became the first family member of five generations to graduate from college. Upon graduation, he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army.
