Just before 7 AM on August 9, 2003, the Kleberg County Sheriff's office in Texas received a 9-1-1 from a man saying he had been shot. When police arrived at the scene of the man's home, they realized the victim was one of their own, Albert Benitez, a former police officer and border patrol officer who now spent his time training young police officers. He had been shot six times and his girlfriend, Elizabeth Reynolds had been kidnapped and taken away in Al's stolen car by the perpetrator.
As details of the case came to light and another crime almost took Al's life once again, it began to become clear who really wanted to Al Benitez dead.
