For years I have enjoyed classic animation specials from one of the early masters of stop motion.  From Rudolph to Santa the Rankin Bass holiday films have always been a staple in my movie line up. From its charming style to its awesome music, join me as I celebrate more than a half century of great work.

Today, Dave the Tutor dives into the wonderful history of Justice League the animated series.  Driven by creative minds like Bruce Timm and the late great Dwayne McDuffie, see how they and the voice talent really brought this classic show to life. With characters like superman, batman, wonder woman, martian man hunter, hawk girl and john stewart green lantern, its difficult to think that this show ever had its struggles.  But we see that writing for such an iconic team can be difficult even for the people who had already successfully launched the Batman, superman, batman beyond and static shock animated series.

Welcome to Toon Lore Done Right!

You can call me Dave the Tutor and today I will be tackling Anime for the first time on the show, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood! Well almost first, I did already do Cannon Busters, which was made by an African American man who has experience working in anime studios. At any rate, on this episode we dive into the dark, philosophical and action packed world of FMAB.  Full Metal Alchemist is one of those anime, along with Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop, that just has a way of connecting to traditionally non-anime watchers.  FMAB takes us through an emotional journey of love, loss and sacrifice as the Elric brothers try to find the fabled philosophers stone! On this episode we dive into the weird, the dark and the funny Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy.  I have the pleasure of working with guest and substitute teacher Deanna and long time listeners will recognize her voice.  She is the host of the Loose Change podcast and all around 90's cartoon fan. Billy and Mandy was Created by Maxwell Adams and this classic cartoon cartoon brings forth some memorable characters and hilarious moments. It's dark tone made it a stand out hit in the hay-day of Cartoon Network, so let's find out if you should skip it, try it, watch it or binge it!
