Ep 64 // Understanding The Criminal Mindset with John (Tuan) Doan and Sharon Kilon Han

What is the root of a criminal behavior? Why do people commit crime and what is the mindset and the thinking pattern of someone living in a criminal and gang lifestyle?

After spending 26 years in prison, John Doan sat down with me to share his story of why he lived a criminal lifestyle, how he learned to transform his mindset, redefine his identity, and rewire his value system.

In this episode, you’ll learn about the criminal mindset he had when he committed the crime that got him a sentence of 15 years to life in prison, the biggest lesson he learned in prison, and the inner work he did to make the decision to transform his way of thinking and behaving.

Now, out on parole, he is serving the community through his work as the CEO of a non-profit organization called Fear For Breakfast, where he hopes to help crime prevention and bring healing on both sides of crime.

Ep 62 // How to Love Someone You Disagree With
JUN 6, 2022
Ep 62 // How to Love Someone You Disagree With

Can you love someone you disagree with? Especially on controversial topics like politics, abortion, vaccines, gun control, etc.? This episode is all about the things I’ve learned as I wrestled with this question on how I can love someone despite our differences.

This was a challenging topic to tackle, and I’m still learning in this area, but I hope this episode will help you in your journey of learning how to navigate relationships with people who have different opinions than you with more love, grace, and understanding. 🤍

Thank you for being here and for listening!

Love,

SKH

Ep 60 // How to Feel You Have Worth: Permission to Just BE

If you’ve been struggling with performance mindset, perfectionism, people pleasing, doing things to try to prove your worth to yourself and to other people… This one is for you. Actually, this one is for everyone. The main message of this episode is this: Give yourself permission to just BE.

In this episode, I also talk about some of the things I've learned from the book The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga.
