What I learned this year | Friday Rant with Austin Linney | Construct your life #793

In this episode, I break down the biggest lessons I’ve learned this year — from the power of stillness to redefining what revenue really means. I talk about resilience, health, energy management, and why slowing down is sometimes the most productive move you can make.

Key Highlights:

- Stillness is power: Not responding is sometimes the highest form of response.

- Energy is access: Not everyone deserves immediate attention — or any attention.

- Hustle isn’t the solution: You can’t out-earn the conversations you’re avoiding.

- Revenue ≠ resolution: Money helps, but it won’t fix what you refuse to face.

- I’m stronger than I thought: This year stretched my resilience beyond anything I expected.

- Health changed everything: Showing up daily at 5 a.m. CrossFit has elevated every part of my life.

If this episode hit home, send it to someone who needs the reminder that slowing down, looking inward, and choosing intentionally is its own kind of strength.

Business Live Show: Why you start a podcast w/ Austin Linney & Brad Smith | Construct your life #792

In this episode Brad puts me in the hot seat to break down how I actually use podcasting as a relationship engine, a content machine, and a long-game business strategy. We talk consistency, guests, gear, distribution, and why downloads don’t matter nearly as much as people think.

Key Highlights:

- Podcasting is a mindset, not a metric:I

t’s about relationships, reps, and distribution — not downloads.

- Stop worrying about saturation:

There isn’t your podcast yet. That’s the only one missing.

- Consistency wins:

I’ve released my Friday rant every week for 5+ years — no excuses.

- 1,200+ episodes later…

The show became my own mastermind, business school, and network builder.

- Best guests aren’t the "big names.":

My highest-performing episode was a first-time guest with a powerful story.

- Ask questions others don’t:

Look for what lights your guest up, not just what they’re known for.

- Start simple:

Cheap mic, basic webcam, Zoom/Riverside — and launch with 10 episodes ready.

- Repurpose everything:

One episode becomes clips, emails, blogs, YouTube — a full content ecosystem.

- Let the first 35 episodes teach you:

The show evolves. Don’t force a niche too early.

- Podcasting grows your business indirectly:

Warm relationships - cold DMs. Clients often come months later.

If you liked this episode, share it with someone sitting on the fence about starting a podcast. Consistency compounds — hit record and show up.

New way to journal | Friday Rant with Austin Linney | Construct your life #791

In this episode, I break down a simple, tactical journaling workflow that has completely transformed my self-awareness, clarity, and personal growth. I share exactly how I use Day One, ChatGPT, and NotebookLM to turn my weekly thoughts into a custom podcast I listen to every morning—helping me spot blind spots, track patterns, and accelerate my evolution in real time.

Key Highlights:

– The journaling habit that finally stuck: I share how I went from inconsistent journaling to writing every single day—and why the tool matters less than the process you design around it.

– My full weekly workflow (step-by-step): I walk through the exact system I use:

- Journaling daily in Day One

- Exporting weekly entries

- Feeding them into ChatGPT to identify themes, blind spots, mindset shifts, and quotes

- Compiling a month of insights into NotebookLM

- Generating a personal podcast made from my own thoughts and growth

- Listening to that podcast every morning to reinforce new beliefs

– Why this system works so powerfully: I explain how getting thoughts out of my mind creates space, helps me see patterns I’d normally miss, and gives me a new vantage point on my behavior, emotions, and growth.

– Reinforcing your evolution: Hearing my own words reflected back to me in audio form strengthens clarity, reinforces direction, and lets me witness how far I’ve actually come.

– A challenge for you: This is the method that works for me, but I encourage you to find the system that helps you digest your thoughts, track your growth, and create new mental space.

If this episode brought you value or gave you a new way to think about journaling, send it to a friend who might need it. See you next time.

Business Live Show with Brad Smith and Jackie Hirsch | Construct your life #790

Business Live Show with Brad Smith and Jackie Hirsch | Construct your life #790

In this Business Breakdown Live episode, Brad and I sit down with the incredible Jackie Hirsch, a veteran business broker who’s seen hundreds of deals go right—and plenty go wrong.

We dive deep into one of the most under-discussed but critical topics in business: integrity. Whether you’re buying, selling, or partnering, Jackie shares how to recognize red flags early, trust your intuition when something feels off, and protect yourself with data and due diligence.

We swap wild stories—from fake bank statements and shady buyers to deals saved by gut instinct—and break down the fine line between taking a risk and ignoring your better judgment.

Jackie also shares her best insider tips for first-time buyers and sellers: how long deals really take, what to look for in an attorney, and why preparation is everything.

Key Takeaways:

- Integrity over income. No amount of money is worth compromising your values.

- Trust your intuition. If something feels off—even without data—it probably is.

- Back it up with data. Gut feelings matter, but always verify through research and documents.

- Beware of fake funding. Confirm proof of funds directly with a lender before wasting time.

- Preparation wins deals. Show up with your bio, financials, and a clear understanding of your experience.

- Find the right legal help. Work with attorneys who specialize in business transactions, not generalists.

- Play the long game. You’re not just closing deals—you’re building a reputation and lifelong relationships.

Final thought:Business moves fast, but integrity lasts forever. Trust your instincts, do your homework, and remember—a deal that doesn’t feel right is one you don’t need to chase.

Help and asking | Friday Rant with Austin Linney | Construct your life #789

Help and asking | Friday Rant with Austin Linney | Construct your life #789

In this Friday Rant, I open up about something that took me way too long to learn: asking for help. For years, I tried to carry everything on my own—business struggles, relationship pain, family issues—and I thought I was the only one dealing with it.

But what I’ve realized, especially through my men’s groups and honest conversations, is that everyone’s fighting a battle we can’t always see.We isolate ourselves thinking we’re being strong or not wanting to “burden” others, but isolation is where our minds start to turn against us.

The truth is, help only comes when we ask for it. The moment you reach out, you create space for connection, healing, and even service—because sometimes helping someone else is exactly what unsticks your own pain.

Key Takeaways:

- You’re not alone. Everyone’s dealing with something—even the people who seem happiest.

- Isolation breeds struggle. When you keep everything in, your mind becomes your own worst enemy.

- Ask for help. Whether it’s a text, a call, or joining a group, reaching out changes everything.

- Be honest in connection. Ask people how they really are—and be willing to share your truth too.

- Service heals. Helping someone else might just be the thing that frees you from your own struggle.

- Faith in community. When you show up for others, others will show up for you.

Final thought:If you’re stuck, stop replaying the pain in your head and reach out. Asking for help isn’t weakness—it’s the bridge back to strength.
