How to write a compelling CV that leads to a job interview during the COVID-19 recession
Have you lost your job or looking to change your job during COVID? Wondering how the shutdown and recession have changed the way organisations hire staff? On this episode of the Career After COVID podcast, Fleur and Kym discuss their tips for crafting the right CV for each job you are applying for during and after COVID. Both hosts have been job seekers and hiring managers, so they share their perspectives from both sides of the interview table and explain to listeners that the right CV is about making a personal connection with the interviewer and the organisation and communicating your value as a potential employee. Fleur and Kym recommend that you keep the following things in mind as you are putting together your resume and cover letter: Understand who is making the decision – Look up the hiring manager or recruiter on LinkedIn and take note of mutual interests Use specific keywords in your CV – Echo keywords in the job advertisement, but don’t overdo it Show enthusiasm for the organisation – Talk about the solutions you are hoping to bring to their current problems as well as willingness to learn Use data to demonstrate your experience – Include any meaningful reviews or feedback you have received Proof-read, proof-read, proof-read – Have another human read through your resume and cover letter because technology can lead you wrong Consider your short-term and long-term goals – While your short-term goal may be to get this job, keep in touch with people you have met throughout your career because you never know when one of those connections will lead to a future opportunity To go deeper into this topic and to pre-order the ebook, visit our website - https://careeraftercovid.com You’ll Learn Pivoting back to the job hunt Tips for writing your CV How to get the attention of recruiters Putting yourself in the recruiters’ shoes  Resources https://careeraftercovid.com https://facebook.com/careeraftercovid https://twitter.com/careerrockstars https://pinterest.com/careeraftercovid http://instagram.com/careeraftercovid   Please subscribe to our podcast and if you enjoy the podcast and book, we'd love to receive a rating and review on your favourite listening or reading app.
