<p>Terrance J. O’Malley founded TJO Management in 2018 to provide consulting services and market intelligence to the investment management industry.</p>
<p>Throughout his 25-year career, Terrance has served firms as both a trusted outside adviser and as a key in-house executive. Drawing on this experience, he provides a variety of consulting services and lends his judgment to complex problems faced by the industry’s top firms.</p>
<p>Terrance also hosts Operational Leaders, a podcast he created in 2019. The podcast features leaders and innovators responsible for “the business of running an investment management business”. In addition, he publishes a popular blog focusing on issues facing investment management firms.</p>
<p>Terrance provides his consulting services and market intelligence based on the full range of his career experience which includes:</p>
<p>• Senior in-house executive serving as Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Blue Ridge Capital, at its peak a pre-eminent multi-billion dollar hedge fund firm.</p>
<p>• Partner at law firms Schulte Roth & Zabel and Fried Frank, as well associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell, focusing on regulatory matters for investment management clients.</p>
<p>• Adviser to foreign governments – working on USAID capital markets projects in Russia, Ukraine and India.</p>
<p>• SEC enforcement attorney (while simultaneously attending an evening MBA program).</p>
<p>Terrance has been an active participant in the investment management community. He has served in a variety of leadership positions ranging from industry initiatives to editorial boards to association committees, including the MFA’s Chief Operating Officer Forum. He has also published dozens of articles and co-authored two influential books:<em> The Insider’s Guide to Hedge Funds: Successfully Managing the Middle and Back Office</em> and the <em>Investment Adviser’s Legal and Compliance Guide</em>. In addition, he has spoken frequently at industry conferences and been quoted in leading industry publications.</p>
<p>Terrance hails from Pennsylvania where he grew up on the border of suburbia and farm country. This environment fostered a life-long curiosity of how things work – from local manufacturing to agriculture, history to economics, and culture to sports. His path led to Wall Street where Terrance developed a passion for the investment management industry. Along the way, he earned a law degree from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree <em>cum laude</em> from Boston College.</p>
