Distinguished Prof Vickers has held several national leadership roles, such as President of the Australasian Neuroscience Society (ANS, 2014–2016) and Chair of the Scientific Panel of the Alzheimer's Australia Dementia Research Foundation (2014-2016).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;He was awarded a Doctor of Science from University of Tasmania in 2005 in recognition of his contribution to neuroscience research.
