Dr. John Tan, board certified in Family Medicine talks about modifiable risk factors some that are life choices and some that are metabolic and physiologic that you can affect with the help of your physician. Today I'm joined by Christine Herman P.A.  Christine is a physician's assistant in our north IU Health Fort Wayne location. We discussed how to recognize symptoms in the workplace and how we diagnose it in our clinical spaces. We dug into A1c, why we measure it and what levels mean. The importance of diabetes education, diet and exercise were reinforced and current medications were discussed, including mechanism of action, the sequencing of meds and the potential adverse effects that might show up in the workplace.
