Today we celebrate the ordination of James and Chet to the office of deacon here at Mt. Rose Church. This significant moment in our church’s life reminds us of the vital role that deacons play in our community. As outlined in Acts 6, the early church faced challenges that required dedicated individuals to serve the needs of the congregation. James and Chet have been chosen for their outstanding character, wisdom, and commitment to Christ, and we are grateful for their willingness to serve.

The office of deacon is not merely an administrative role; it is a spiritual ministry that reflects the compassion and love of Jesus Christ. Deacons are called to meet the physical and material needs of our community, ensuring that no one is left in want. Their service is a testament to the love of Christ, demonstrating that we care for one another not just in spirit but also in our daily lives.

As we reflect on the words from Psalm 145, we are reminded of God’s greatness and His unwavering goodness. Just as the Lord provides for all His creation, we too are called to extend that same care and compassion to those around us.

As we move forward, let us embody the spirit of generosity and compassion that characterized the early church. Whether through volunteering, sharing resources, or simply offering a listening ear, every act of kindness contributes to the witness of Christ’s love in our world.
