For this episode, we got to sit down with multi-hyphenate rapper / singer / lawyer / voice actor, Simba Mak. While we are celebrating women and our soft-era, we felt it important to get a man’s perspective on life and its complexities. Simba sat down with us to talk about his journey from Zimbabwe to Australia, the acknowledgement that nobody is self-made, and the complexities of creative duality and how he juggles that. We’re going behind the curtain on this episode as we discuss what goes into being a musician, especially one that hails from Zimbabwe -the actual hustle and grind of pursuing artistry. We were joined by the dynamic and incredibly talented Niasha on this episode and we went into the layers of following artistic passion whilst also maintaining a 9 - 5 and what it was like touring with Sampa the Great. When they say dynamite comes in small packages, they were talking about Niasha because she is an entertainer of note! To be a parent or not to be… did we even know we had the choice?! On this episode, we discuss how our viewpoint on having children has evolved, the pressure of bearing children especially as black African women, who has the right to make a call on having children and everything else between. Beyond the myths and mysteries of Sex and why it’s so taboo, we felt it important to delve into Sex for People of Colour. Why is it so hard for us to talk about? How do we handle being hypersexualised at a young age and losing our innocence? What is our hope for People of Colour when it comes to sex and healing? We were joined by the immensely profound Nadine Atia of Aateeyah Sexology who spoke on the trauma that First Nations and People of Colour carry and how it manifests into our sexuality and sex life.
