What seems obvious to one may not be so obvious to other. We all think and process information differently but a lot of us assume others know what we mean, what we feel and what we think. Can you resonate with this, even if just a little?

This eye opening talk is based around a book that Iona wrote to help autistic kids learn and understand what to mainstream kids may seem like a very simple concept but to other kids presents a complex problem.

This books called RUDE Word Problems helps kids who think differently break things down in a way they process information to make it easier for them to learn, understand and progress so that they can be part of the conversation, be part of life and enrich this world with their different way of seeing things.

And what can WE all learn?

This talk’s subject goes beyond differences between mainstream and autistic kids. It relates to all of us humans - how we communicate and help understand each other. What is a common sense for one is not for the other. But how often do we assume others think the same as us?

What I have learned through this creating this book is ‘Mean what I say and say what I mean’ - Ioana.
