Throwback; Episode 666: Learn to Lead with Scott Mann

Today we wanted to share an episode from a little while back. We believe that it provides immense value and there are some new listeners, so we wanted to re-post it.

On today's episode Dennis speaks with former US Green Beret, leader and author, Scott Mann. Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Scott Mann is a former US Army Green Beret with tours all over the world including Colombia, Iraq, and multiple tours in Afghanistan. He is a warrior, storyteller, and the founder of Rooftop Leadership where he shares the rapport-building skills he learned in Special Forces to help today’s leaders make better human connections in high-stakes, low-trust engagements. Scott helps organizations gain a better understanding of their internal culture while exposing the potential for conflict that exists when trust has deteriorated. In the same way, he empowered local tribes in Iraq and Afghanistan to make transformative decisions using very few resources, Scott teaches corporate leaders and their teams the relationship-building techniques that drove so many of his successful combat operations. Scott, speaks about the process of becoming a great leader, what it takes to lead and stories from his own life that have molded him into who he is today.

Throwback; Episode 691: Lead Yourself, Lead Others and Lead Always with Jason Redman

Today we wanted to share an episode from a little while back. We believe that it provides immense value and there are some new listeners, so we wanted to re-post it.

On today's episode, Dennis speaks with Retired Navy SEAL Veteran and American hero, Jason Redman. During Jason's 21-year Navy career, he spent 11 years as an enlisted SEAL and 10 years as a SEAL officer leading teams in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has vast experience and expertise as speaker, coach, author and trainer, helping individuals, teams and organizations of all types and sizes to define and implement lasting change, even in the wake or face of failure, crisis and adversity. He’s lived through it all at the highest level in his Navy SEAL career: From failures as a young leader that resulted in him almost being kicked out of the SEAL teams, to redemption and leading teams in intense combat operations in Iraq, to being shot eight times, including a round to the face, and nearly dying during an enemy ambush, Jason has lived the OVERCOME Mindset he now teaches others.

Jason talks about creating an OVERCOME Mindset, setting examples to be a better parent and partner, overcoming the "3 Life Ambushes", embracing failure  and how it is NEVER too late to lead.

Throwback; Episode 687: The Will to Survive with Cristina Coria

Throwback; Episode 687: The Will to Survive with Cristina Coria

Today we wanted to share an episode from a little while back. We believe that it provides immense value and there are some new listeners, so we wanted to re-post it.

On today's episode, Dennis sits down with Retired Santa Monica Officer Cristina Coria. Cristina was born and raised in Santa Monica, California, and grew up in a family of police officers who worked for the Santa Monica Police Department. Coria has been a police officer for almost 14 years. During this time, she has gone through two life-threatening experiences. First, she was nearly crushed to death when she was pinned up against her police car by another vehicle driven by an intoxicated driver. Second, she sustained an almost career-ending injury to her left arm after being shot by a murder suspect during a hostage standoff which occurred on the Santa Monica Pier on July 4, 2000. She sustained severe bone and nerve damage and was initially advised by doctors that she might lose her arm. After extensive reconstructive surgery she was told by doctors that she would never be able to have full use of her arm again nor return back to work. Through dedication, determination, faith and perseverance, she beat the odds and regained use of her arm. In 2000, Cristina was a contestant on the 13th season of Survivor: Cook Island and in 2001, she returned back to work full duty patrolling the streets of Santa Monica. After such hardships, she manages to keep upbeat and continues to have a positive outlook on life. Cristina talks about overcoming adversity, keeping a positive mindset when times are tough and how everything happens for a reason.
