In the early morning hours of February 16th, 2026, Ashley Flynn was shot and killed inside the home she shared with her husband, Caleb, and their two daughters. Caleb told police that someone had broken into the house, murdered his wife, and disappeared. Up until that night, Caleb’s life had been deeply intertwined with Ashley’s. They had been married for fifteen years. They were raising two daughters together. They attended church together. Caleb worked for Ashley’s father, was close with her family, and had spent years building a life that was connected to hers in almost every possible way. But investigators would soon discover that there was another version of Caleb Flynn’s life. One that Ashley did not fully see. A secret relationship. Thousands upon thousands of messages. On October 9, a shooting at a home on Perry Street in Erie, Pennsylvania, left at least eight people dead, and the Erie County Coroner has identified the gunman as 45-year-old Matthew Stone Sr. A motive remains under investigation. In Rhode Island, 61-year-old William Morton has been charged with first-degree murder in the 1985 killing of 22-year-old Hillary Hellewell in Newport. The case is headed to a grand jury.

On the night of February 25th, 2023, 24-year-old Jade Benning called one of her oldest and closest friends. She wasn't calling to catch up. Her husband, 40-year-old Caleb Flynn, has pleaded not guilty, but prosecutors allege he staged a break-in and killed Ashley to be with his mistress, 24-year-old Alleigha Botner... Closing arguments for the trial are scheduled for September 29.
