In this episode, we cover the unusual case of Mark Palmer, a construction worker from Bedfordshire, who vanished in 2019 whilst working overseas in the town of Ontinyent, Spain.
Mark was last seen by his colleagues at 10:30am on the morning of April 27th, a Saturday. Mark had a history of going AWOL for up to 24 hours at a time, so when he failed to return on Sunday, they weren’t immediately concerned. By the time Monday rolled round, there was still no sign of him, so they called the police.
This episode hears from Mark’s sister Claire, who explains her brother’s long history of mental health issues and how they may have played a factor in his disappearance. She talks about travelling to Spain with her husband and the rest of Mark’s family and how within a matter of hours she went from studying for a PHD, to coordinating a sprawling search effort with dozens of volunteers.

In this episode, we examine the strange case of Cathryn Holdsworth, a 72 year old woman from Illingford, Halifax, who was last seen in her local supermarket on September 9th, 2017 and has been missing ever since.
Cathryn’s disappearance was reported by her neighbour Martina, who after speaking with the police, used the spare key Cathryn had left with her to enter her home. Martina and her husband searched it from top to bottom and soon realised that not only was Martina there, no one had been for some time.
This episode hears from Martina, as well as Holly Lynch, former MP for Halifax, who was Cathryn’s local representative back in 2017. Holly took a personal interest in Cathryn’s case and the issue of older, vulnerable people in her community in general. In 2023, Holly brought Cathryn’s story to Westminster, highlighting her disappearance during a debate in Westminster Hall.

Welcome back to the eighth and final season of The Missing in its current form. Our first episode tells the tragic story of Rodrigo Falcon, who vanished from the picturesque Scottish town of Aviemore, in December 2022.
Rodrigo was originally from Argentina. He loved travel and adventure and these interests brought him to Aviemore, whose lakes and mountains attract thousands of tourists every year. Rodrigo was a keen skier and for a while worked at Cairngorm Mountain, a ski resort 11 miles outside of town, before eventually getting a gig pulling pints at a bar called the Pine Marten.
This episode hears from Katie Jahacy, co-owner of the Pine Marten and Rodrigo’s close friend. Katie brings us through the events leading up to Rodrigo’s disappearance and its aftermath, highlighting the outpouring of grief from the inhabitants of Aviemore that resulted. They came together in huge numbers to try and locate the man who had brought such joy to their lives, someone many of them considered a ‘brother.’
