Girl, Did You Watch?

This week we dive into the complexities of dating with HBO's Love Life Season 2 starring William Jackson Harper, Jessica Williams and more, in a romantic comedy anthology series about the love journey of a recent divorcé. Colin in Black & White a limited docu-series on Netflix that walks us through Colin Kaepernick’s life, and the adversities he navigated from a young age. (6:07) And Queens, a new series on ABC starring Eve, Brandy, Naturi Naughton and Nadine Velazquez, who used to be a huge rap group until things apart some 20 years ago. This week on Girl, Did You Watch? We get into the unexpected comedy of Queenpins starring Kristen Bell, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Paul Walter Hauser and Vince Vaugn. A movie about a best friend duo who get caught up in an epic coupon scheme. (4:32) Then we take a complete pivot and discuss one of HBO's newest documentaries, What Happened To Brittany Murphy? Which delves into the unexpected death of the young and spunky Hollywood star. (33:42) And of course, we fill each other in and everything else we're watching and what's next on our watchlist. It's Pumpkin Spice season which means it's time to break out our flannels and cozy up with our fall TV favorites. This week we get into two season premiers that we've been waiting on the edge of our seats for. We had to start things off with our beloved Grey's Anatomy Season 18 Premier. The Grey Sloan crew is now faced with life in a post-COVID world, and we are grappling with our feelings about a time that we have yet to experience ourselves.  Then we get into Sindy's long time favorite show, Survivor. A new watch for Maddie, Sindy helps break down the rules, what's changed now that the show is shaking things up, and what we might be able to expect through the rest of the season. This week we get into two very different watches. We start off with We Broke Up (5:08) a dramedy starring Aya Cash and William Jackson Harper. Longtime couple Lori and Doug break up days before Lori's little sister Bea's wedding to Jayson. In order to not disrupt the wedding, Lori and Doug decide to pretend they're still together until the weekend is over. A movie we wanted to love but finished feeling pretty indifferent on. Then we get into our newest obsession Only Murders In The Building, starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez (15:10). Hulu's newest hit, where three strangers who share an obsession with true crime suddenly find themselves caught up in one.
