Sen lisäksi tietokoneen ruudulle on kirjoitettu selvästi Davidille osoitettu viesti:</p><p></p><p>“Olen pahoillani, vain sinä ansaitsit elää.”</p><p></p><p>Järkyttynyt David ei voi käsittää, kuka olisi voinut haluta hänen perheelleen pahaa, mutta poliisilla on välittömästi käsitys siitä, kuka hirmuteon takana on. Rikospaikkatutkinnan aikana löydetyt todisteet kuitenkin alkavat viitata toisaalle ja syyllinen pidätetään vain muutama päivä myöhemmin. Tuosta hetkestä alkaa vuosikymmeniä kestänyt ja kansaa jakanut saaga, joka jaksaa puhututtaa vielä tänäkin päivänä.
