Do you desire quitting a 9-5 job to pursue your dreams? Do you feel not only stuck but unable to make the shift and moves to transition to a new career or opportunity? This is a hugely common problem that many of us face and continue to struggle with how to approach and conquer. My guest this week, Christina Asai, is a superb life coach, friend, and truly a beam of light that has helped many of her clients as well as myself tackle the question of how to get out of the career transition trap. We break down and go deep into the very elements and conditions in our brains, minds, and psyche that holds us back from making that 'leap of faith' and actionable steps to get out of this 'box'. Christina speaks from personal experience starting off in academia, investing years of time and money studying in the medical field on her way to becoming a physical therapist, only to make the huge transition to becoming a life coach! Tune in as she shares, from experience, real practical tools and skills in developing the mindset to find more clarity and alignment for your career pursuits and transitions. We can face these challenges together!

In that case there is no better timing and person in Christine Chen, Life coach extraordinaire and my lovely fiance, to talk about Intergenerational Trauma aka Family Trauma. Are you part of a family that shuts down and shuts you down or brushes things under the rug becoming emotionally avoidant or has explosive fights but never works towards any type of conflict resolution or understanding? It is toxic, can be frustrating, and damaging but you are not alone because Christine and I have dealt and are still currently navigating through this type of intergenerational trauma with our respective families. This trauma and pain is real and deeply rooted in our community, culture, and upbringing that goes way back in time. As we examine how these traumas affect us and how to deal and grow from them, hopefully this conversation helps you navigate these tumultuous environments and leads you towards a place of inner healing and safety.

Whether you are a man that struggles with this very darkness or you know somebody in your life affected by it, this is for you. I have felt alone, isolated, letting my past mistakes dictate my present and future, and felt trapped in the darkness of not being able to feel, express, and understand my emotions and traumas in life. We simply can't ignore that men die by suicide 3.5 times more often than women. Forty-nine percent of men feel more depressed than they admit to people in their lives. About 6 of every 10 men experience at least one trauma in their lives. I am one of those men and ready to shine a light into this darkness and tell my story in hopes it can help others. I've been to my lowest of lows contemplating suicide. This is a story of my pain that has grown to a story of healing against many odds. I never ever imagined I could be here right now with the ability to share all the lows in my life and attach meaning to it. If you are here, you are not alone, we are not alone, we can build a better mental health future together.

He is the co-founder at Watcher Entertainment and also creator & host of Buzzfeed's hit food show 'Worth It', and newly ENGAGED! You would think for this episode we will be talking about his journey, growth, and things he has learned as Youtuber, content creator, and entrepreneur, but NO instead we are going to talk about the journey, growth, and things he has learned about LOVE. As much work, thought, and development that needs to be put into a career for success the same goes for emotional development before and in a relationship. I find too often men don't equate the two. So let's start to normalize and share these conversations especially for asian men about our journeys and growth in the very vulnerable and personal topic of love. Come join us in not just congratulating Steven on his engagement but also find out what he's learned about love, so far... Part 2 coming after the wedding?!
