The End Of An Interim Era: O’Neill’s Impact & What Happens Next at Celtic (Extended Episode)
What Martin O’Neill has delivered as Interim Manager has been nothing short of remarkable. So much so, in fact, that many fans - understandably - would happily press pause on the imminent passing of the Celtic baton to Wilfried Nancy. But as football always reminds us, even the best reigns (interim or otherwise) must come to an end. And for O’Neill, that looks to be approaching fast. When he does step aside, he’ll do so with the gratitude of the entire support, for answering the call when Celtic needed him most, and for breathing life back into a side that had clearly lost its way. The spotlight now turns to Nancy. His task will be to build on O’Neill’s work and sustain the momentum that’s been reignited in recent weeks. Supporters will be hoping for clarity and confirmation on the Frenchman's arrival in the days ahead. Elsewhere, the Celtic Fans Collective have confirmed a march will take place ahead of Sunday’s clash with Hearts. It will set off from Celtic’s birthplace of St Mary’s in the Calton at 1.15pm, before making its way to Celtic Park ahead of kick-off - with the social media announcement encouraging all fans to attend: “All Celtic fans are invited to join us as we embark on a unifying and defiant celebration of everything good about Celtic Football Club.” 🎙️ Join Tino, Mif & Brydo as they discuss all of the above and more on the latest Celtic Exchange Weekly. ========================================== 🔔 Want even more from The Celtic Exchange? O’Neill has made a remarkable impact since stepping in as interim boss almost five weeks ago - reigniting this Celtic side by dragging them firmly back towards the top and restoring confidence in Europe with Thursday's big win against Feyenoord - and he’ll be determined to sign off in style after a spell that has breathed fresh belief into players and supporters alike. Yet in typical style in his pre-match press conference, O’Neill brushed aside any talk of legacy. His sole focus is on the three points that could take Celtic one step closer to the Premiership summit. Whatever the outcome in Leith, his influence has been unmistakable - lifting spirits, restoring momentum, and reminding everyone what he's all about. Martin O'Neill leaves with the thanks of everyone connected with Celtic for answering the call when it mattered most. 🎙️ Join Tino for the Countdown To Kick Off show as he builds up to Sunday’s lunchtime showdown in the capital. This Is The Day | Martin O’Neill Turns Back Time To Steer Us To Special Euro Victory (Bonus Episode)
🍀 This episode has been made available FREE to all following Celtic's big win in Feyenoord. 🎙️ We record pre and post match shows for EVERY Celtic game on our Patreon channel and you can explore that and a host of other benefits and additional content right now at the link here. 🔗 https://patreon.com/celticexchange ================================== Ahead of Celtic’s trip to Rotterdam, everyone in green and white was willing Martin O’Neill to conjure one last European night to remember before stepping aside as interim boss. Hope or expectation? Who cares - when the moment arrived, so did the man. And what a continental farewell it was. A 3-1 win away from home - after falling behind - is the kind of result that deserves to be savoured. For a side not exactly renowned for away victories in Europe, this one feels extra sweet. Huge credit to the travelling support, as ever, with our own Paddy proudly among them. Every mile, every delay, every bleary-eyed journey home will be worth it after a performance like that. The victory lifts Celtic back up the Europa League table, and with three games still to play, the baton now passes to Wilfried Nancy to carry this campaign forward. 🎙️ Join Tino and James as they break down a massive night on the road, with Celtic delivering on Matchday 5 of this season’s Europa League.
