As Australia prepared to shift from imperial to metric measurements in 1973, the Bathurst 500 mile race is replaced by a 1000km event. Under the new moniker  the need arises for teams to run two drivers in each car, with Mount Panorama legends Peter Brock and Alan Moffat at the forefront.
