Two podcasts in one stream! "Comedy Night Podcasted Right" is a week-by-week deep dive into the year that Community, Parks & Recreation, The Office, and 30 Rock aired as a two hour block on NBC, and what sort of weird coincidences show up when you binge four different shows at once. "TV Makes Sense" looks at some of the best individual episodes of television and how they make sense in a way that real life just cannot compare to. Hosted by Matt, Gus, and Sam.

TV Makes Sense - Episode 06 - The Simpsons - Lisa the Vegetarian
You don't make friends with salad, but you can if you incessantly quote "The Simpsons". Well, at least the only kinds of friends worth keeping.Matt, Gus, and Sam are back and talking another great episode of one of TV's best shows ever. How does one pick an episode when there's over 700 to choose from? Well, ignore anything from the last 20 years and pick an early episode: in our case, "Lisa the Vegetarian".While it may be an odd choice since it's rarely considered to be among the series' top episodes, but it certainly was one of the most influential. Considering The Simpsons has to constantly shift its own backstory to keep the characters ages' in line with modern times, Lisa still remains a vegetarian almost thirty years later. But not only that, this episode is packed with quotable lines and sight gags, as well as classic bits like an Itchy and Scratchy and a Troy McClure educational video. We take the opportunity to discuss our own flings with vegetarianism; with Sam herself being inspired to give up meat for several years after watching this episode. Gus also talks about eating lentil soups when he gave it a try, and if you feel like trying Paul McCartney's ripping lentil soup, we've done the work to reverse the audio from "Maybe I'm Amazed" so you can hear it for yourself. Matt also gets the chance to deep dive into way to much knowledge on the earlier seasons of the Simpsons: the kind of skill only useful when making podcasts. So settle in: grab a plate of tripe, a bowl of gazpacho, and make sure to remember to BYOBB. Even if we have a brief technical issue with Gus' mic towards the end, it's still good, it's still good! Note: this episode is fun for ages 1 to 7 1/2.E-mail us! TV Makes Sense - Episode 05 - Freaks and Geeks - Pilot

TV Makes Sense - Episode 05 - Freaks and Geeks - Pilot
The once-were-Geeks-in-High-School-but-now-proudly-identify-as-Freaks are back with another episode breakdown: this time of the seminal (hey, we used that word right!) series Freaks and Geeks. We went right to the start with the first episode, creatively titled "Pilot".What were you in school? A nerdy geek? A burnout freak? A bully jock? A... Hufflepuff? Well, regardless that the title breaks kids down into only clique, what we really learn in the Pilot and through this series is that we're more than the labels we're given.  In fact, it's somewhat ironic that this show can make us nostalgic for what was most definitely NOT the greatest years of our lives. Not only do we love this show for the complexity of these characters; but the show was a veritable well spring for talent.  Oddly enough, we've seen that most of these people somehow ended up in a Spider-man movie, since all roads lead to Spider-man.Some other strange connections we've learned or only just remembered was that Linda Cardellini was in Legally Blonde getting her hair permed, and it's possibly that Tina Fey stole the entire idea for Mean Girls from Freaks and Geeks.  Just make sure you listen for any more hot takes!Follow Sam on IG: @sam_thistleFollow Gus' other podcast on IG: @primos_primerosFollow Matt's dog on IG: @itsindythedoodleFollow the show on IG: @comedynightpodcastedrightFollow the show on Twitter: @comedynightpod1Follow the show on Reddit: reddit.com/r/comedynightpodrightE-mail us and get it read on air: [email protected]

TV Makes Sense - Episode 03 - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Charlie Work

TV Makes Sense - Episode 03 - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Charlie Work
The Gang Discusses the Best Episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.  Well, according to IMDb, anyways.  Anyone not familiar with the series may think the title is strange, but just remember that "Charlie" in the title is an adjective. This week is Matt's pick, and along with Gus and Sam, we head over to Paddy's Pub where Charlie is forced to frantically dupe the new health inspector into thinking the bar is clean while everyone else is trying to pull off a chicken-steak-airline-miles scam.  We spend a lot of time gushing over this episodes greatest technical feat, a 10-minute long tracking shot which follows Charlie and the health inspector all over Paddy's Pub - or "Carmine's: A Place for Steaks".  It's an episode so tightly made, it makes you wonder if anything was left on the editing room floor. The TV episode, that is.  Despite our insistence, there was plenty of audio from this recording that we had to cut out. Some lessons learned this week include: Matt realized that "Survivor" is actually not all that bad and shouldn't have been so hard on it; Gus learns that "Runaway Train" by Soul Asylum is different than "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush (and we're hoping that putting it in the description gets us a few extra listens); and Sam has tried pickled eggs, which honestly wasn't that great of a help in a trying time. There's also some second-hand electrical advice that Matt learned from his father, who is also not a licensed electrician, HBO's Succession is a different show than Apple TV+'s Severance, and It's Always Sunny is weirdly connected to both the classic (?) Super Mario Bros. movie and the upcoming new version. If enough people listen to this episode, we just may try to make Sam TikTok famous for eating pickled eggs.  Or we'll just console ourselves by eating steaks purchased with airline miles.Either way, grab your favourite joke stool, have a seat, and enjoy the episode.Check out Gus' other podcast on IG @primos_primerosCheck out Sam's IG @sam_thistleCheck out Matt's new puppy on IG @itsindythedoodleContact us via e-mail [email protected], and still putting it out there the first person to send an e-mail will have it read on an upcoming show.TV Makes Sense & Comedy Night Podcasted Right on IG @comedynightpodcastedrighton Twitter @comedynightpod1And check out the subreddit for episode discussions: reddit.com/r/comedynightpodrightJust don't pretend like you understand the plan, because that's going to annoy me.
