96, 10-6, SHOW NOTES & COPYRIGHTS, (Scheduled 3/23/2023) Today we are going to follow up on Dave’s suggestion to read a specific poem. This poem has one of my favorite titles, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrowday. Sometimes I like to play with words and even make my own words. Yesterday, today and tomorrow are all days of our lives. And no, I have not watched this soap opera on tv. I’m not sure how clean I would be after watching an episode.Ok, enough, I’ll get to reading. Our first poem is found in Living in God’s Rhyme on page 157.YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROWDAYAs I write this it is today.I wrote the one for yesterdaySometime earlier today. You will read this tomorrowday.Yeah, it sounds nonsensical.Maybe it’s like something from A long lost, thankfully, musicalWhose tunes you cannot hum.For some that is the total sumOf a week of days ever so weak; There was yesterday’s yesterdayAnd then tomorrowday’s tomorrowday. But we must remember the timesWhen writing of the week’s rhymesThat spellcheck continues to tell us we that we are wrongerWith those red squiggly lines under words that are stronger.(Writers comment: Man versus machine, God always wins.)One day tomorrowday will be yesterday. We cannot worry about whatever dayWe find ourselves living inWhether we lose or we win.As we face each day we must pray,Pray aloud that God removes the cloudOf doubt so we may shoutFor the world to hear that we have no fear.Yes, we will have our coffee,We will have the lives we live,But these things become smallWhen we answer God’s call.Yesterday I wrote, and today I writeAs I will tomorrowday write,“All I need today is a little Dr. PepperAnd a whole lot of Jesus”Pray that we mayStay with him always,That what we sayMay reflect the wayHe has saved us,God’s Son, Jesus.Discussion:Not much to say. It’s how my mind works. Crazy, I know; the voices in my head are constantly telling me so.Let’s see what I wrote some other day. This is found on page 53 of Living In God’s Rhyme.SUDDEN DAYThe first day of the week,We worship him in churchAs comfort in our lives we seekBefore out the doors we lurch.Tomorrow begins the weak days,Those days when we can easily forgetWhat on Sunday he did say.As we step in the puddles our feet are wet.It is meIn the mirrorI do see.In the morningThere is a warningIn the prayer saidThat all I needIs his word to heedAnd I will be ledMy soul will be fedAnd then I open the doorTo the world that wants more. Each and every day I seeA reflection in the mirror. But there are so many aboutAs our lives we live outThat have not heard Us speak of his word.We must care,We must share,Let them knowAs we sowThe seedsThat will feedMore than five thousand,More than loaves and fish,More than they could ever wishIn years beyond a thousand. We can lead them to eternity.Away from God’s enmity,So that when it does arriveSudden Day they will survive.Discussion:As I was putting together the show notes, this thought fell into my mind: Every day I pray that I follow God’s way. What can go wrong as I sing a song of praise to the One He did raiseWe’ll end the poetry with one more from Living In God’s Rhyme. This one is on page 58.ANOTHER DAY TODAYNot an unusual day,But I’m glad it’s over. There’s not a lot to sayExcept the day lost its wayAbout a third into its hours.Thankfully it didn’t turn sour.Driving home, seeing the cloudsAnd thinking, as usual, aloud,With the threat of rainThere were patches of blue. There were more than a few.It made me think of a refrainFrom a song From a time longBeyond the past,Time that did not lastBut is reborn every dayAs to the Lord I pray.Today when I looked at the skyI knew there was a reason why,I finally was gladFor the day I had,Before I saw the blue,Before I once more knewThat God is always there,That he always does care. When I am otherwise Occupied with my time,When I feel the seas rise,At the end of the dayHe always finds a way To share with me his rhyme. There is beauty in every dayAnd at the right timeHe shows me the way,Every day, all of the time.Discussion:When the day starts to lead me astray, God shows me the way.My final thought about todays poems is, Pray, always. God is there in prayer. As we come to the end of today’s podcast, let us pray.Dear Heavenly Father we come to you in prayer as we end today’s podcast. Dave and I thank You for leading us through the day and into tomorrow. We thank You for all you have led us to and through. We pray for our listeners and viewers; for their needs, healing and the salvation of those who have not yet accepted the gift of Your grace by faith. We pray, Lord, for this world in which we live. Father, as Christians lead us to proclaiming the gospel where ever we are. May we do so in a loving way. Lead us to the truth of the days we are living in. Dear Lord, prepare us and our listeners and viewers for the coming week. We pray that it is You we live for and You who leads us. As we walk with you this week, may it be Your hand clasped around our hand so we may feel the grasp of Your love. And this week may we remember the words from 2 Corinthians, 12:9; But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, my power is perfect in weakness.”At the beginning and at the endAnd every moment in between,May our strength be for His strengthSo His perfection may be seen.(from God Still Rhymes, Concluding Prayer)We pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer.Amen (2/26/23) If you giveHim the timesAs you liveHis word rhymes And don’t forget, “We are the Kings kids and you will never get rid of us for we are His with Jesus.” Living In God’s Rhyme ©2018 by Tim CarterGod Still Rhymes ©2019 by Tim CarterGod’s Rhyme ©2019 by Tim Carter
