My forte is murder, intrigue, suspense, and the supernatural. I have always loved writing these genres. They always have this unique – special – kind of vibe to them.

The thrill and exhilaration that every storyline brings make people get hooked to stories that revolve around these genres, which is why I love writing them.

My book ‘Sparks Fly at Midnight’ will surely tell you how much of a fan I am. I have poured out my whole heart into writing this book – it has been a lifelong dream.

As an author, my single most important goal is to make every reader of my book stop and think about the plot over and over. Of what a character said or did. Of the consequences of one’s actions.

I have always loved working with children, and so I became a middle and high school science teacher. While I was happy teaching, my dream was to become a published writer.

My love for small children led me to become a professional nanny some years ago. I have also served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For many years now, I have been writing children’s books that I hope to publish in the near future. 

My Grouch and Me was inspired by my niece Haley. We were trying to think of coping techniques and ways to deal with anger, disappointment, and anxiety. By changing our focus from the negative to the positive, we were able to achieve a happier and less stressful outcome. Haley thought of the happy net, and the story grew from there. -Kelly Clement
