&lt;p&gt;Jesus described death as “sleep”.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If it is a sleep, then there is a future hope.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Three Aspects of Sleep:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ol&gt;
 &lt;li&gt;It is a time of rest (2 Corinthians 5:1-8, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)&lt;/li&gt;
 &lt;li&gt;It is a time of waiting (Revelation 6:10)&lt;/li&gt;
 &lt;li&gt;It is a time of awakening &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Only Jesus can do the work of wakening people from their sleep of death. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Jesus has the power of resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20) &lt;/p&gt;
