Alaskan Sea Wolves Documentary Filmmakers - Esther Gossweiler and Buck Wilde

Wildlife filmmakers Buck Wilde and Esther Gossweiler return to update Alaqua Animal Refuge Founder and "Difference Makers" Host Laurie Hood about the first documentary ever made about rarely seen Alaskan Sea Wolves, "Dark Wild Howling." The duo shares how Esther patiently gained the trust of an alpha male wolf she named Mosquito, who eventually introduced her to his pups. The film sheds light on the 20,000-year-old question of how wolves became domesticated. Esther is a civilian "Difference Maker" having turned her photography hobby and love of travel into helping people understand and protect wolves. Their film is expected to be completed by the fall of 2023, pending additional funding and donations.

Peter Knights — When the Buying Stops, the Killing Can Too

Peter Knights is one of the biggest names in wildlife conservation and advocacy. As founder and president of WildAid, he may be the most influential "difference maker" of our time. In Part One of Laurie Hood's two part interview, Peter describes how he began his life's work as a wildlife trafficking investigator and ultimately founded WildAid, the global leader in the concept of demand reduction—which vigorously combats the illegal wildlife trade, a multi-billion-dollar global industry largely driven by consumer demand.

Peter has attracted A-list celebrities—including Danai Gurira, Yao Ming, High Royal Highness Prince William, Lupita Nyong'o, David Beckham, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jackie Chan, Sir Richard Branson, and Maggie Q—and raised millions of dollars of free advertising to lower the demand for animal products by asking worldwide audiences to embrace the message: "When the buying stops, the killing can too."
