(Bill has a very special reason for being "all" in)  We also get a look from The Board of Directors point of view, as to where we are today (having our doors open for 11 years now) and where we are going in the future under the boards leadership. A Rosie Place for Children invites guests to discuss children who are medically fragile, the families who care for them, and how the community can support and embrace them.  We want to provide a voice for these children and families.

A Rosie Place for Children is the first (and only) specialty hospital in the state of Indiana exclusively for children who are medically fragile. Although we are a highly equipped hospital, capable of caring for the most complex pediatric conditions, respite is delivered in a beautiful home on 5 acres.  Children enjoy activities designed specifically around their abilities and needs.  Love.Care.Fun.  It all happens at A Rosie Place for Children.

WHAT IS MEDICALLY FRAGILE?

A child who is medically fragile requires daily care by specially trained caregivers (above and beyond typical parenting). Children who are medically fragile require the use of therapies and/or specialized high tech medical equipment (such as G-Tubes, ventilators, apnea monitors, suction machines) to sustain or enhance their lives.

Conditions that may constitute medically fragile include (but are not limited to): premature birth, brain injury, uncontrolled seizure disorder, cancer, spina bifida, complications from surgeries, chronic lung or heart disease, swallowing disorders or specialized feeding issues, neuromuscular disease, or other chronic health conditions such as diabetes and asthma that require specialized care that cannot be provided by an untrained care giver.
