“The most important thing people need to understand, so their child does not die in a hot car, is to understand that it can happen to anyone,” says Janette Fennell, Founder & President of Kids & Car Safety. Janette never intended to work in car safety. However, one night after having dinner with friends, she, her husband, and her nine-month-old baby were kidnapped by masked men outside of their home. After she and her husband were locked in the trunk of a car with no foreseeable way out, Janette realized that her family’s survival was near miraculous. As a result, Janette felt compelled to change how trunks were manufactured, which eventually led her into other vehicle safety endeavors, such as saving children from hot car dangers.
