Designing a Dream Bigger Than Fear with Nick Nanton (Ep. 99)
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Big dreams often surface quietly, then get talked down by doubt, timing, or other people’s opinions. What if the real work is not letting them disappear?</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">How do you know which dreams are worth pursuing, who to bring along, and what tradeoffs actually matter?</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In this episode, Bryan Sweet sits down with Nick Nanton, Emmy Award winning filmmaker, producer, and bestselling author, to talk about dreaming intentionally, using creativity as a practical tool, and building teams that allow big ideas to become real. Nick shares how clarity, values, and persistence shape meaningful progress, why failure is part of the process, and how choosing gratitude over anxiety opens doors even in uncertain seasons.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Key takeaways:</span></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why creativity is about using your natural strengths, not artistic talent or inspiration alone</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">How surrounding yourself with people you admire accelerates progress toward meaningful goals</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The role of values and alignment when choosing projects, partners, and risks</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">How failure, timing, and persistence shape long-term fulfillment</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why intentional living requires clarity about what you want and why it matters</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">And more!</span></li> </ul> <p><b>Resources: </b></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Bezos-Letters-Principles-Business-Amazon/dp/1642793329"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Book: The Bezos Letters by Steve Anderson</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Never-Split-Difference-Negotiating-Depended/dp/1847941494/ref=sr_1_1?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.tktdACgQAbirZ40QSOpURY99FHre0gsjbnHDJ8n98w90qfwcmImwQ5eadrTYHT1P0dC_8NXnZcmLUU1dEGocvSs8AGrQcYXh5IescOnxkSgSoV1DmulWB-ndcORrYj3PwII9V4fJTiRTAYCisUBDTVZxd6Bhvv5dwNHqDERixDw6ITStGebX5NCReQjHbID2nYTuh1exOEyyciuIF20znqxS6a8Orc9Eya6qx30bUdgYItg4A3bqs9HudenegCEjBrgVD3-NVu3dXwDpbLsnWK9CfhwToejY_P3gkbKWX6g.EFDIBbPAFgvS8ndCFOhYm-tQZw5Y-5Ve3tu-UEE2odc&amp;dib_tag=se&amp;gad_source=1&amp;hvadid=678397021119&amp;hvdev=c&amp;hvexpln=0&amp;hvlocphy=9191659&amp;hvnetw=g&amp;hvocijid=2257780764308387578--&amp;hvqmt=e&amp;hvrand=2257780764308387578&amp;hvtargid=kwd-303823184867&amp;hydadcr=16987_13579247&amp;keywords=never+split+the+difference+book&amp;mcid=1ecc627e7ede32f0abcddcbd242a17dc&amp;qid=1770317782&amp;sr=8-1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Book: Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Pappyland-Story-Family-Bourbon-Things/dp/0735221251"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Book: Pappyland by Wright Thompson</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Its-Never-Too-Late-Make/dp/0785236643"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Book: It’s Never Too Late by Kathie Lee Gifford</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/No-Easy-Day-Firsthand-Account/dp/0451468740"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Book: No Easy Day by Mark Owen</span></a></li> </ul> <p><b>Connect With Nick Nanton:</b></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://nicknanton.com/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Website: Nick Nanton</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/nicknanton/?hl=en"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Instagram: Nick Nanton (@nicknanton)</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/Nicknanton/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Facebook: Nick Nanton</span></a></li> </ul> <p><b>Connect With Sweet Financial Partners:</b></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">1 (507) 235-5587</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="http://meetingwithsweet.com"><span style="font-weight: 400;">meetingwithsweet.com</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://sweetfinancial.com/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sweet Financial</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/bryansweet/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">LinkedIn: Bryan Sweet</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/sweetfinancial/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Facebook: Sweet Financial Partners</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f4d6.png" alt="📖" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; That belief carried him from law school to launching the Celebrity Branding® Agency, and eventually to founding DNA® Films—a studio that has now produced 60+ films and earned 22 Emmy Awards. It didn’t happen because conditions were perfect. It happened because again and again, Nick bet big on what mattered. And when it worked? He doubled down.</span></p> <p><b><i>The opinions voiced in The Dream Architect Life Podcast with Bryan Sweet are for general information only and are not intended to provide specific advice or recommendations for any individual. The conversation also touches on legacy, fatherhood, perspective, and a simple but powerful question: what would you regret not doing if time ran out sooner than you expected?</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Scott discusses:</span></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">How thinking big starts with confidence, then grows into serving others</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The LIFE model (Love, Impact, Faith, Energy) and how it shapes decisions</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why action and momentum can break the grip of fear</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Daily practices that keep him steady when routines get disrupted</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Books that shaped his perspective, including Think and Grow Rich, Man’s Search for Meaning, and Inner Excellence</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">And more</span></li> </ul> <p><b>Resources:</b></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Mans-Search-Meaning-Viktor-Frankl/dp/0807014273/ref=sr_1_1?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.phUc2adLzv8edJKcJfYGiSsGfTSONDkwbV3So36X9hFernGfNknjOeo023zdTKaekluGNGXbICa8vdjwiUp2FQiq4qUKMnOoEXxDBP8UZNf0in-8u3Kej9B33QtZjD5CuwNO7DcVGukyOxAnJjRqm91hbPf9LEubG8hlrmlogK06Z_XppkZCB067bWVfH8ldme_Rx9BqVqTXRKUaqF1-OfgNbJKDwxC5BJrVCRX9pyw_RbmwRbDV6PSWW6oyl2AU3_CQYgonU13zX3aWgdm_Q0zdsO40rKcbL6g13elck-A.0HAhtLbNHLiaQDgzyH9BoUTXJPDphmp3xzDN5YX-D3c&amp;dib_tag=se&amp;gad_source=1&amp;hvadid=588199180314&amp;hvdev=c&amp;hvexpln=0&amp;hvlocphy=9001266&amp;hvnetw=g&amp;hvocijid=12991220095380164619--&amp;hvqmt=e&amp;hvrand=12991220095380164619&amp;hvtargid=kwd-295218725259&amp;hydadcr=14977_13396745&amp;keywords=man+search+for+meaning&amp;mcid=f5f0526c1f23327eb1016666b003b9e8&amp;qid=1767035226&amp;sr=8-1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Man’s Search for Meaning, Viktor Frankl</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/INNER-EXCELLENCE-Extraordinary-Performance-Possible/dp/1734654805"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Inner Excellence, Jim Murphy</span></a></li> </ul> <p><b>Connect With Scott Danner:</b></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="http://scottdanner.com"><span style="font-weight: 400;">scottdanner.com</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://scottdanner.com/podcast/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Podcast: The High Performance Life Podcast</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/scottwdanner/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">LinkedIn: Scott Danner</span></a></li> </ul> <p><b>Connect With Sweet Financial Partners:</b></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">1 (507) 235-5587</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="http://meetingwithsweet.com"><span style="font-weight: 400;">meetingwithsweet.com</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://sweetfinancial.com/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sweet Financial</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/bryansweet/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">LinkedIn: Bryan Sweet</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/sweetfinancial/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Facebook: Sweet Financial Partners</span></a></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f4d6.png" alt="📖" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Get our book, “Dream Architecture,” </span><a href="https://dreamarchitecturebook.com/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">here</span></a></li> </ul> <p><b>About Our Guest:</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Scott Danner is the Executive Vice President, Head of Legacy, at Steward Partners.
