30. James-Olivia Chu-Hillman: Supporting A Scared Parent Around A Child’s “Dangerous” Behavior
My guest is James-Olivia Chu Hillman, one of my mentors and someone who has taught me SO MUCH about relating! // In this episode, I bare my heart to James-Olivia and they share their skills around holding non-judgmental space. // TW: We discuss an incident at my son's school where he threatened to bring a 6un to school and how well (sarcasm) that went over with the school authorities. // I struggle with knowing what type of accountability is "fair" and "right" to hold a young, neurodivergent child to, without "pissing off" everyone for letting something so serious "slide." // I share this conversation in the hopes that it resonates with other parents who have had similar struggles, of themselves or their child getting vilified by the over-culture, and of struggles around how to do compassionate and appropriate accountability in an over-culture that over-couples accountability with punishment. // JAMES-OLIVIA SHOW NOTES: // Website: https://inquisitivehuman.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/inquisitive_human/ Upcoming offerings: SKILLED & SOVEREIGN A relationship skills intensive for humans who want to connect deeply, interrupt their own relational fuckery, communicate cleanly, be more themselves, and relate competently when difference is present and the stakes are high… https://inquisitivehuman.com/ REGARD An exploration & practice of right relationship. https://inquisitivehuman.com/regard // CELESTYNA WILD ANNOUNCEMENTS: // Holidays 2024 FREE gift for parents: https://celestynawild.com/worksheets-workshops/p/holiday-2024-gift SIGN UP FOR EMAILS! https://wildchild.myflodesk.com/celestyna-wild-coaching For inquiries about accessible pricing: celestynawild (@) gmail (.) com Website: https://celestynawild.com/ Book a free virtual discovery chat:  https://celestynawild.as.me/vibe-check *New* misbehavior course: https://celestynawild.com/worksheets-workshops/p/decode Free + low-cost resources: https://celestynawild.com/worksheets-workshops Latest Substack Article: Why we "argue for our limitations": https://celestynawild.substack.com/p/why-we-argue-for-our-limitations NOW ENROLLING for 1:1 coaching on parenting, neurodiversity, and/or relationships! 29. Melanie Piazza: Creating Family Village Coop - A “3rd space” of community, co-working & childcare
My guest today: Melanie Piazza, Founder of Family Village Coop About Melanie and Family Village Coop: Founder Melanie Hekkelman-Piazza came up with the idea for Family Village in response to raising an infant and 3 year-old while also caretaking her terminally ill mother (in a town she'd just moved to). Fueled by desperation, isolation and rage, she gathered like-minded mothers and set to work building the space of her dreams. Within six months, the doors were open and lives were being changed. Six years and more than 250 families later, Family Village continues to buck the status quo of childcare and parenting norms to bring families the work-life balance they crave.  We talk about:  ~ A win-win-win + what Melanie brings to the spaces she leases ~ Why Melanie started Village Coop ~ Sacred rage ~ Mothering + entrepreneurship ~ The million dollar question about how mothers chose to invest in themselves vs investing in others/things outside them ~ Melanie’s own entrepreneurship journey ~ Doing entrepreneurship intuitively/”unprofessionally” Melanie Piazza shownotes links: Family Village Coop: https://www.familyvillagecoop.com/ Celestyna Wild shownotes links: SIGN UP FOR EMAILS! https://wildchild.myflodesk.com/celestyna-wild-coaching email (for inquiries about accessible pricing) celestynawild (@) gmail (.) com website: https://celestynawild.com/ book a free virtual discovery chat: https://celestynawild.as.me/vibe-check *new* misbehavior course: https://celestynawild.com/worksheets-workshops/p/decode free + low-cost resources: https://celestynawild.com/worksheets-workshops Holidays 2024 gift: Shop Surprise Balls: https://celestynawild.com/surprise-balls Latest Substack Article: How I Stopped Yelling At My Kids: https://celestynawild.substack.com/p/how-i-stopped-yelling-at-my-kids NOW ENROLLING for 6 months of coaching on parenting, neurodiversity, and/or relationships!
